The Second Winds band is currently made up of 14 Centre County musicians. The combined age of the members of the group is over 1,061 years, with 6 members in their eighties.
The group, originally a spin-off from the Senior Center dance bands of the 1990's, has played music and entertained for over 16 years at Senior Center events, community festivals and parties, and retirement and assisted-living communities throughout Central Pennsylvania. Some of the group members may have changed over the years, but their goal is still the same: have fun and keep young by playing music! The group's repertoire is as diverse and varied as the vast experience of the group members. They play and sing music from all eras, covering songs from the early 1900's all the way through to the modern era.
Typical gigs include a mix of swing, big band, and jazz standards, pop and rock and roll songs, with an occasional Latin, polka, blues, and/or film song classic thrown in for good measure. The Second Winds can be found on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/thesecondwinds and a few "studio" recordings by the band can be heard at https://soundcloud.com/the-second-winds.
