CRPR Gift BenchesCRPR Gift Bench Roster

Updated 1 Aug 2016

As part of the Gifts-For-Parks Program, since 1997 CRPR has worked with donors to provide funds for Gift Benches across the park system.  Since 1997, 70 park benches have been added across the park system. Potential donors are encouraged to call the CRPR Office at (814) 231-3071 to discuss the available sites for park benches. Some park areas are now filled with a sufficient number of benches, including the Tom Tudek Memorial Park Arboretum area.

There are two types of benches available, depending on the park selected:

  • FOR MUNICIPAL PARKS  (Municipal Park Roster) This municipal park bench is a commercial-grade, 6' long park bench (Dumor Bench #138-60PL) which weighs 126 pounds and is made in Mifflintown, PA of recycled plastic lumber with a steel frame that is installed in concrete footers. Maintenance of each bench is then provided by CRPR staff. A donation of $800 enables the purchase and installation of the bench along with a custom cast bronze plaque (2.5" x 8" to include defined wording & format) inset flush with the bench backrest. The parksite, location and plaque text is finalized in cooperation with agency staff.
  • FOR THE REGIONAL PARKS (at Oak Hall Regional Park, Whitehall Road Regional Park or the Hess Field Complex) The regional park bench is a heavier-duty, commercial-grade, 6' long park bench (Dumor Bench #11-60PL) which weighs 223 pounds and is made in Mifflintown, PA of recycled plastic lumber with a steel frame in poured concrete footers. Maintenance of each bench is then provided by CRPR staff. A donation of $900 enables the purchase and installation of the bench along with a custom cast bronze plaque (2.5" x 8" to include defined wording & format) inset flush with the bench backrest. The park, location and plaque text is finalized in cooperation with agency staff.

Donations to the CRPR Gifts-For-Parks program are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. A timeframe of 3-4 months after the donation is necessary to obtain and install each bench with a custom, cast bronze plaque. The wording on the cast bronze bench plaque is limited to a standard format and the text is subject to staff approval. While the plaque size limits the wording, expanded wording can be provided on this webpage (below).  Interested donors are asked to contact the CRPR office at (814) 231-3071. A donation for a park bench may also be combined with the Remembrance Tree program.  NOTE: Placing the two GPS coordinates in Google Maps will show the location of that bench.
