for reserving municipal sportfields for softball, baseball, soccer, lacrosse, football, rugby, Ultimate Frisbee, etc.
Looking forward to outdoor sports? The Centre Region municipal sportfields remain open and free for pick-up, family-based recreational activities whenever the sportfields are:
- officially open-for-play,
- not rain-saturated, and
- the field is not reserved in advance for another sport event.
All organized, non-family events and scheduled sportfield uses require a permit from Centre Region Parks & Recreation. As a result of the demand for sportfields and in view of the maintenance costs involved, starting in 2008 the CRPR Authority Board expanded the Sportfield Reservation Process for group activities (i.e., soccer, softball, baseball, leagues and tournaments) held on all municipal sportfields in the Centre Region.
The sportfield reservation process works like the long-established picnic pavilion reservation system. In addition, CRPR
is also authorized to issue permits to groups for the summer
uses of specified outdoor sport facilities owned by State
College Area School District.
Please also note the CRPR "Safe Sportfield Policy" which prohibits play on saturated or closed sportfields. For more information, please contact Jeff Hall, CRPR Sports Supervisor at (814) 231-3071.
